Lettre du 8 janvier 1587 (de Rome): "[...] Ho dato al procaccio uno scatolino a dove ho messo tre figurine piccole, antiche, due di metallo et una più piccola di tutte d'argento molto capricciose e come io abbi riavuto il medaglione e la figurina che era in mano di Domenico de' Camei bona memoria, gnene mandarò e si aspetta qui Ercole Basso, che senza di lui non se può far nulla, perché a lui è restato il carico delle medaglie e per quanto io ho visto, se bene ve ne è qualcuna rara, non di meno non vi son troppe, ma tra le altre che io ho visto, vi è un Nerone col congirario molto bello e stupendo [...]" (Firenze, Archivio di Stato, MP 785, c. 196; Barocchi - Gaeta Bertelà 1993, p. 292-293, n° 325).
