-Lettre du 30 juillet 1782 (d’Alep): “En attendant le depart pour Bagdad, qui n’aura lieu que dans un mois, je vais faire une herborisation de cent cinquante lieues. Je passerai par Laodicée, Antioche, Séleucie. J’espère trouver des médailles dans cette dernière ville. A mon retour, je vous ferai un bel envoi de grains, ainsi qu’à M. de Malesherbes. Les consuls et les négociants sont témoins que personne ne travaille avec autant d’ardeur pour sa fortune que moi pour la botanique” (J.-P.-F.
