Lettre du 9 juin 1559 (de Messine): "Reverendo Padre Carissimo. Non credo, che vi dispiacerà saper che son giunto a salvamento in queste bande, e per darvi notizia di qualche altra cosa che ho trovato qui, scrivo questa. Ho havuto una medaglia mai più vista da me, nè credo da voi simile. E’ in argento, come quelle di Imperatori latini cristiani DN REX CVNTHANVNDV, e la testa di un vecchio raso magro con corona di gioje con toga o paludamento ricco. Dietro D. N. in mezzo di una corona graminea o laurea, che non si vede bene. Non so se fusse in Hispagna uno di questo nome, ma si scrive con SC al principio. Avvisatemi chi sia costui, ed in qual tempo" (Andrés 1804, Lettre XLVII, p. 368-369).
