-Lettre du 21 juillet 1733 (de Toffia): “ Nato io in Sabina dove per mia disgrazia mi ritrovo, e per il male d’una gamba non ho potuto vedere alcun paese, e si come mi diletto di leggere, e mi son incontrato a leggere monete chiamate quintarij e sesterzi, et havendo domandato ad un monaco Benedettino quanto valevano a moneta nostra non ha saputo dirmelo, solamente mi ha detto che il più dotto di queste cose sia VS. Rev.ma, e che ne ha stampato libri, però io come cieco ricorro a esser illuminato, et in rispondermi per Roma passerà un mio parente riscoterà la lettera per mandarmela, e le bacio devotamente le mani” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII 6, f° 566r – online).
