-Lettre du 26 février 1722 (de Bucarest) : « Comme nous admirons dans vos bibliothèques votre grande connaissance des médailles, je vous prie de me mander ce que vous jugez d’un grand médaillon en cuivre de Pompée le Grand, que nous venons d’acquérir ; d’un côté la figure de Pompée avec la barbe, et l’inscription Pompeus Magnus, de l’autre côté une victoire ailée avec un trophée, en bas Roma. C’est peut-être quelqu’un de sa famille, qui se faisait une gloire de ce grand nom, et qui a fait battre ce médaillon, qui d’ailleurs ne peut être nullement soupçonné comme fausse. Nous avons encore acquis une autre médaille de cuivre de Corinthe, laquelle a d’un côté , et de l’autre C CE C.
