Lettre du 17 mars 1736 (de Venise): "Mi rincresce ch’ella abbia trovate e giudicate false, non che sospette le tre medaglie delle quali mi scrive. Egli è rarissimo : in simili compre non si è mai abbastanza nè sicuro, nè cauto ; e non sempre di prima occhiata ne riesce scoprire la verità o la falsità indubitata delle rare medaglie, sopra le quali in particolare si è raffinata la industria e la malizia dei più esperti falsarj. Io per me credo che pochissimi sieno i gabinetti, nei quali non sia entrata sì fatta peste : parlo anche dei Regj e dei più accreditati" (BnM, Ms. It.
