Lettre du 2 janvier 1739 M. V. (1740) (de Venise): “Nella mia serie di medaglie d’oro, che a più di 420. già ascende, sta similmente quella d'Augusto col Capricorno, e con la leggenda Signis Receptis. Avendola osservata nella Gotha nummaria del Lieben, mi astenni dal notificarla al P. Baldini, cui solo alquante ne ho ricordate, delle quali stimava, che altronde non potesse averne notizia, o almeno non mi sovveniva di averle presso altri osservate. La Giulia di Tito in mezzano bronzo, restituita da Domiziano, non abbia il minimo dubbio del suo essere antica, e sincera. Se tale non l’avessi giudicata, l’avrei esclusa dal mio museo, e non ne avrei fatta parola al P. Baldini, acciocchè fosse stampata" ; "Le medaglie d’oro di Caracalla, e di Severo Alessandro quì non sono comuni. Del primo ne tengo sei, o sette con rovesci bellissimi differenti.
