'To Supply the defect of our Library here & at y^e same time to Assist my own Ignorance I begged you to send me by the first Opportunity Montfaucon’s Palaiographia Graeca & to honor me w^th Hayms Tesoro Britannico, making me a Subscriber to y^e Work if not too late. ... Here w^th is a Catalogue of a few Silver medals w^ch I have sent to my Sister, as I had not leisure to draw one out in terms of Medalry, in w^ch I am less than a Novice. ... Tis grown difficult to find Medals now. Our Consul lays hold of all He can find. The Fr[ench]: C[onsul]: gives treble y^ir value rather than let y^m pass. The D[utch]: Consuls Son spares no price for y^m, & the Dutch Minister is as fond of them as any, so y^t I have not so much as begun to make a Collection.'
