Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 16 octobre 1753 (de Copenhague) : He has been unable to find a medal of Carausius in the Royal Museum. He embarks on his theory of the Capricorn on the coins of Augustus and Vespasian. He fronts the letter with a sketch of a megalithic monument in Zealand, which he describes. His patron, Chancellor of the Royal University, was delighted that he was to be accepted as Hon. member of the S.A. and R.S.’ and when he can produce the letter confirming this H.M. will recommend him for promotion. If a specimen ms required for his reception, he will supply the R.S. with one asserting the Rotation of the Globe, and the S.A. may have his dissertation on London. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Eng. letters b. 2 fols. 36-38).
