Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
Lettre du 20 janvier 1685 (de Padoue) : an ironic reference to Andreas Morell’s book Specimen universae rei nummariae antiquae (Parisiis 1683) about the originality of the text. On 20th January 1685 Patin wrote to Averoldi: «Andreas Morellus is well known to me. He is Swiss, a good man, a friend of mine and his fidelity is not to be doubted. I have his Specimen. I did not give my name to the booklet, though it can be definitely given, if we have to be honest» (Padova, Museo Bottacin, MB 855, c. [55] ; voir Callegari 2020).
