Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
Lettre du 15 septembre 1692 (de Padoue) : The last time Patin went to Venezia was in the first days of August 1692 to visit a Greek merchant. He tried to buy coins for 60 lira, but «ei non sufficiebant», and also two very beautiful coins of Antinoo, but they were too expensive. And then he proceeded: «At Graeci hodierni poene sunt barbari et saepe scelesti» (But the modern Greeks are almost barbarians and often rascals) (Padova, Museo Bottacin, MB 855, c. [115] ; voir Callegari 2020).
