Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre de 1445 (de Crète [Candie]) : “Praeterea ut insigne admodum aliquid tibi referam, cum mihi Ioannes Delphin, ille Ναυαρχος diligens και φιλοπωνατος, apud eum per noctem praetoria sua in puppi moranti pleraque nomismata preciosasque gemmas ostentasset, alia inter eiusdem generis supellectilia nobile mihi de cristallo sigillum ostendit, quod policiaris digiti magnitudine galeati Alexandri Macedonis imagine pectore tenus miraque Eutychetis artifcis ope alta corporis concavitate insignitum erat; et expolitae galeae ornamento bina in fronte arietum capita, certa Ammonii Iovis insignia parentis, tortis cornibus impressa, ac summo a vertice thyara cursu veloces hinc inde Λαγονικους Molosos gerere videtur eximia artis pulchritudine, et sub galea tenuissimis hinc inde capillamentis princeps, suctili velamine et peregrino habitu elaboratis a summitate listis amictus, dexteram et nudam cubitenus manum, veste summo a pectore honeste pertentantem, videtur admovisse, et gestu mirifico facies regioqueaspectu acie obtuitum per ferens, vivos nempe de lapide nitidissimo vultus et heroicam quoque suam videtur magnitudinem ostentare. Cum et ad lucem solidam gemmae partem obiectares, ubi cubica corporalitate intus sublucida et vitrea transparenti umbra mira pulchritudine membra quoque spirantia enitescere conspectantur, et tam conspicuae rei opificem suprascriptis inibi consculptis litteris Graecis atque vetustissimis intelligimus.” (Vatican, Biblioteca Apostolica, Cod. Vat. lat. 5237, f° 515v–516r ; Chatzidakis 2010-2012, p. 51, note 11).
