Lettre du 20 février 1680 (de Florence): "Io questa volta veggo che sono impertinente & arrogante, mentre per ogni corriero la infastidisco. La medaglia segnata; C. CAESAR. PONT. COS. è stata da me cercata in Parigi, Roma, ed altri luoghi, ma in niuno rittrovata; né il Sig. Patino m'ha saputo o voluto dire, ove sia o fosse stata quella che egli cita. Quindi prego V. S. Ill procurarmi il disegno della sudetta, perché è rara, e fa al proposito dell'iscrizione Pisana che spiego nella quale si legge di Cajo: Post consultum quem ultra fines extremos Populi Romani bellum gerens feliciter peregerat col dirmi appresso se vuole si citi il possessore. [...] P. S. Il dissegno della medaglia lo ponga con un poco d'ostia attacato nella lettera, perché tutte le lettere d'oltre l'Apennino qui s'aprono e profumano nel Lazaretto, onde si potrebbe perdere, quando non s'attacasse alla lettera" (Noris 1741, lettre V, col. 21-22).
