Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 27 janvier 1727 (de Marseille) : Abstract: He hopes his letter to O. at Turin will have reached him. He is eager for news of literature from O’s. visits to libraries and acquisition of treasures - he refers especially to an Aldine edition of Homer and a Diodorus Siculus. He mentions that Havercamp in Holland is preparing an edition (of coinage). He contemplates O’s. making purchase of medals in Rome, pointing out that Italy abounds in salesmen of medals and that of these there are as many fakes as there are genuine ones. He mentions especially a good specimen of one of St. Sevevere? (or the Emperor Sevenus?) A difficult writing. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 487, f° 48-49).
