-Lettre du 15 oct. 1661 de Rome) : prendre l’exemple sur les grands collectionneurs qui ont poursuivi des séries complètes « Quanto alle consolari se V.S. illustrissima vol seguire l’esempio delli studii famosi et più nobili questo è di farne la serie intera, tanto dell’ordinarie, come delle rare, più rare come rarissime, cosi è eseguito nelli studii de’Farnese, Boncompagno, Barberino, del Grand Duca et ultimamente in quello del principe Leopoldo » ; Massimo ne veut que des exemplaires parfaits de conservation et de patine ; relate qu’Agostini conserve les plombs des monnaies vendues : « ne conserva hoggi il getto fra le sue antiche » ; Giovanni Paolo Ginetti ha “da 5 a 7 medaglioni assai buoni, donatili da diversi frati e cavatori delle grotte”. Egli “spende poco, et scarzamente […], che perciò comperò già Tiberio, Pertinace, Didio Giuliano, Antinoo, li 2 Africani, Diadumeniano, le donne di Domitiano et altre rarissime a vili prezzi, e tutte di getto moderne, e quello fece perché non cognoscendo esso quali siano antiche e quali moderne, sentendo il buon prezzo avidamente le comprava […], quando sentì che tutte erano moderne restò smarrito, nondimeno adesso ancora non ha appreso quella verità che per haver medaglie buone è necessario alcuna volta spender assai "(Pesaro, Biblioteca Oliveriana, Ms. 76; voir Missere Fontana 2009, p. 252, note 110, p. 254, note 120, p. 295, note 364; Missere Fontana 2020).
