-Lettre du 9 déc. 1651 (de Rome) : « Non posso corrisponder con altro all’onore che Vostra Altezza Serenissima mi fa, nell’inviare a me il signor Carlo Dati accio li communichi quel poco ch’io so nello studio delle antichità che obedirla esattissimamente, mi dolgo bene che valgio poco per eseguir meglio i suoi comandamenti e per servir un gentiluomo di tanta virtù e di tanto merito. Ho veduto le medaglie che l’istesso signor Carlo ha portate et gliene ho detto il mio senso, mi resta pero un medaglione ch’alla prima veduta non ho saputo, né accettar per antico, né rifiutar per moderno, domani lo rivedro con diligenza e mi risolvero » (Firenze, ASF, Carteggio d’artisti, VIII, f° 620 ; M.
