-Lettre du 16 nov. 1652 : expertise limitée des numismates parisiens : « in Parigi, lei lo sa meglio di me, non si distinguono le medaglie rifatte o falsificate dal bollino o dal buone et sincere » ; supériorité du témoignage numismatique sur les textes postérieurs : « è piu peso il testimonio che n’habbiamo dalle medaglie, di quello che ne scrivano gl’autori e massime essendo moderni, il Panvinio et il Golzio si possono esser ingannati » ; authenticité d’une monnaie de la collection Lodovico Compagni : « ma il Massimiano è moderno securo, vien ben da una antica che ho per tradizione del già Lodovico Compagni, ch’hebbe l’Imperatore Ridolfo essendone restati qui li piombi » (voir Missere Fontana 2009, p. 266, note 203, p. 269, note 231).
