-Lettre du 11 jan. 1653 : sur les tractations pour obtenir la collection d’Agostini (qui ne passera aux Medici que bien plus tard) et qu’Agostini ne veut montrer à aucun intermédiaire mais Gottifredi s’en souvient bien : « dal detto (Agostini) altre medaglie che quelle che non puol sperare da altri, si per il prezzo, come perché poche delle sue medaglie non sono passate sotto il bollino, massime che di quelle dell’Angelone e d’altri, io spero poter provedere il signor Principe di gran quantità di medaglie et a megliori prezzi assai che non haverebbe da lui. Quanto a farle vedere da alcuno adesso non è possibilie perché esso ch’è avvedutissimo s’accorgerebbe subito dell’artifizio et non lo mostraria ad alcuno, massime che facendo da 2 mesi in qua una cava per sé et sopraintendendo anco ad un’ altra che fa fare don Lelio Orsino, non si vidde più per Roma che la mattina delle feste e percio non tratta più con alcuno. Mi ricordo ben io della piu parte delle sue medaglie e ne darro la relatione che posso » (voir Missere Fontana 2009, p. 228, notes 276-277).
