-Lettre du 15 décembre 1736 (de Rome): “Godo che il disegno dell’aratro, le sia riuscito proprio, poiché il delineatore Romano chiamato Francesco Mazzoni, non abbelisce, ma disegna giusto, come sono le cose, e anche mi serve nell’intagliarle; né se ne pavoneggia come tal’uni. Circa agli avorii, si serva come piace, però per la mia poca prattica quello della testa del Salvatore, croce e lettere lo credo assai più antico, e del tempo d’Imperatori Greci, e capitommi tempo fa una medaglia di metallo mezzana, che da una parte vi era la stessissima testa del Salvatore, come l’abbiamo in pittura greca alla Scala Santa, e nel roverscio S. Gio. che battezza Nro Sig.re, in legenda Oblatio Filiis Homnis, del restante mi rimetto al suo meglio sapere” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII 11, f° 35r et v – online).
