-Lettre du 18 octobre 1738 (de Rome): “So che le sue medaglie d’oro, e di metallo, non mostrano il di lui volto, ma deità; ed Io ritrovandomi tra le medaglie greche di detto Re un Tetradagma d’argento battuto non dico in Sicilia, ma dopo essere ritornato ha la testa coll¿elmo, e si vede non già barbuto, ma di ritratto giovane fatto, né certo e di Marte, nel rov.o sopra a caval marino, e fig.a di donna, credo sua madre, e lettere [c. 115 v.] la voglio publicare contro la corrente, e per non attirarmi un Torrente, la ponerò sol per congettare e compatisca di tal confusione.[...] Godo che cotesti noti Sig.ri abbian veduti li medaglioni, e se dal S.r Frederich, le saran dati scudi 8, potrà ricevergli; intanto oggi gli rispondo, e però si compiaccia fargli sapere, che mandi alla posta» (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII, 11, f° 115r-116r – online).
