-Lettre du 28 mars 1739 (de Rome): “Nel ricercare detto Diplomate, ho trovato quello di S.M.C.C., e di esso una copia che Io feci fare, e questa la riceverà in’un plico separata dalla mia presente, dove leggerà S.M.C.C. dichiara esser Io socio dell’Accademia Reale, aggregato ad’Accademi, e altro etc., e volendo ella rispondere alla sciocchezza che VS. Ill.ma mi abbia fatto socio di detta Reale Accademia, basta citare il detto Diplomate di S.M.C.C., noto a tutti d’avermene decorato motu proprio, e per la raggione, che Io indicai al S.r Barone de Stosch e che se intendesse di medaglie, d’iscrizzioni come si pavoneggia col suo scrivere, averebbe conosciuto, che il Castro Pretorio in med. d’argento di Diocleziano, e che trovasi anche in Costanzo, e in Massiminiano, non l’averebbe creduta per la Porta della sua Verona, e averebbe riconosciute le lettere gissellate,e falsificate, né averebbe commessa un’impostura, che tutti i dotti Antiquarii se ne ridono.” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII, 11, f° 137r-v – online).
