-Lettre du 4 juillet 1739 (de Rome): “Egli mi rispose che li socii in Italia erano solam.te quattro, e fatti socii per la morte d’Accademici; Io gli replicai che a me pareva d’esser più di tal¿uno delli 4 socii subentrati per la morte altrui, a causa che ero aggregato per mandargli lumi d’iscrizzioni, e di medaglie inedite, e che ero socio, come è dell’Accademia d’iscrizzioni, come è il Sig.r Ambasciatore di Francia che sapendo Io esser socio, volle che lo ponessi nel frontespizio delle mie maschere a lui dedicate, e che mi veniva confermato dal Diplomate di S.M.C.C. quale mostratogli, coll’altro dell’Accademia, non seppe altro replicare, che in Parigi non si chiamano socii.” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII, 11, f° 138r-139r – online).
