-Lettre du 19 novembre 1785 (de Rome) : «Vero è ch’in linea di numismatica erudita Roma piuttosto è sterile, Ella m’insegna chequi non sono né gabinetti compiti né numismatici di grido. Il museo Bracciano, l’unico forse che merita questo nome, ora per quanto sappia io, è diventato inaccessibile; quei di Piombino, Chigi, Barberini lo sono sempre stati; e che lo sia quello del Vaticano gia s’intende quando si dice, che Msgr. Reggio n’è il custode. Msgr. Borgia, a cui Ella gia saprà che io sono totalmente addetto, ed a cui devo tutto, ha fatto una raccolta, che considerando si la brevità del tempo, merita attenzione» (Wien, KHM, MK Archiv V ; Williams 2015, p. 791, note 36).
