'I am perfectly satisfyed that I have not nor ever can have the power of taking the medals out of the Bank in your name, let me be ever so much authorized by you so to do, nor can you yourself take them out. You have assigned them to the Trustees, as part of a compensation to me & those who come after me, for a large debt, let in on the property. Those Trustees only can take them out from the Bank for the purpose of sale, if consented to by you & me, but for no other purpose. If that assignment is broke through, the settlement is broke through. The medals are assigned with P[embroke] H[ouse] as one compensation valued at £35,000. [He continues to discuss the trust set up by his grandfather and its relevance to the other antiquities at Wilton.]'
