-Lettre du 2 octobre 1782 (de Rome) : ‘Ho osservato diligentemente la moneta del nostro museo riferita da L. Holstenio nelle note a Steph. p. 129. Quello che vi si legge con chiarezza e fuori d’ogni dubbio è πpoc λiban. L’altre lettere, o sia il restante dell’iscrizione è incerto. Dalli segni e vestigi delle prime lettere pare che si possa cavare piutosto hλioπ. che λaoδik. Ma veramente e chiaramente non si legge nè hλioπo. nè λaoδik. Lo spazio occupato da tali lettere confuse è lungo, e potrebbe contenere piu voci, come di fatti le contiene, ma non sono intelligibili da poterne fissare un esempio » ; "La prego a scusare la mia ignoranza, che m’obbliga di ricorrere a lei, e ad occuparla in si piccole cose, ma ella lasci per me il solo tempo d’avanzo, e non si distragga dalla bell’opera, che ha intrapreso sopra tutta la scienza numismatica dalla quale aspetto gran lume per le mie fatiche intorno a questo museo” (Wien, KHM, MK Archiv V, 143, fol. 1v ; Williams 2020, note 82; Woytek 2022a, p. 388, n° 6; Burnett 2022, p. 420, n° 6).
