Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

'Monsieur
[Discussion of Palmyra’s names]
[discussion of cities named after Hadrian, citing coins from Tristan and Hardouin. Goes on to discuss the visit of the Englishmen, and how they had found many tombs and inscriptions; and how they were accompanied by a painter who had drawn everything. Further discussion of the ruins of Palmyra. Hopes to have further news of these Englishmen.]' (London, British Library, Add MS 72530, ff.40-3; Burnett 2020b, p. 603)
