Doktor Münter] gesammelt und besitzt, wie er mir sagte, ein Manuskript, welches die Münzwissenschaft auf scharfe Kennzeichen, wie die Linnéschen sind, zurückführt. Herder erkundigt sich wohl mehr darum, vielleicht wird eine Abschrift erlaubt […] wir müssen doch auch, früh oder spat, in dieses Fach ernstlicher hinein.” (Woytek 2022a, p. 396, note 160; Ehling 2022, p. 462)

Le docteur Munter est ici, de retour de son voyage en Sicile. C’est un homme ardent, énergique. Je ne connais pas ses desseins. Il sera chez vous au mois de mai, et il aura bien des choses à vous raconter. Il a voyagé deux ans en Italie. Il est mécontent des Italiens, qui n’ont pas eu assez d’égards pour les importantes lettres de recommandation qu’il avait apportées, et qui devaient lui ouvrir maintes archives, maintes bibliothèques secrètes ; en sorte qu’il n’a pas réussi complètement au gré de ses désirs. Il a recueilli de belles monnaies, et il possède, à ce qu’il m’a dit, un manuscrit qui ramène la numismatique à des caractères tranchés, comme ceux de Linné. Herder demandera sans doute des informations plus détaillées. Peut-être sera-t-il permis de prendre une copie. Il est possible de faire quelque chose de pareil. Je souhaite qu’on y parvienne. Et nous aussi, nous devrons tôt ou tard entrer tout de bon dans ce domaine. (fr)
