Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
Lettre du 1 août 1751 (d’Arnhem) : Your query as to the accuracy of certain statements in the Miscellanea led to my discovering as many careless mistakes and the same lack of orderly arrangement in Cuper’s Monumenta Antiquorum annexed to his Harpocrates, as I had found in Muratorius. Since my return I have been hesitating between several objectives, but have decided on the alternative of editing Hagenbuch’s writings on the more obscure inscriptions; and so I should be grateful for information as to «nummi contorniati» and ancient stones, and indeed to have from you any coins or representations of them; and pray look in your drawers for any you may have of the 30 tyrants who held Gaul under the Emperor Julian: but most of all I want «nummi contorniati», for my first intention is to publish an account of them.
