Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
Lettre du 4 juillet 1727 (d’Aix):He acknowledges receipt of books from Burmann, namely 5 volumes of Burmann’s letters on Hendrich’s Republic of Marseilles, and the third part of Erasmus’ works in folio, and Mr. Wilde’s set (cabinet) of 3 volumes, in which he has taken especial pleasure as he had been searching for it for a long time. He has had no acknowledgment of the receipt of the muscat wine. He will send him more after the next vintage if he wishes; and expresses his desire to be of service to him: he is grateful to O’s. brother for giving him the opening for correspondence with such a person as you. He would much like Mr. Vaillant’s book on the medals of the families of the Roman Emperors. If they are too expensive he would give in exchange Diodorus of Sicily in 2 vols. Greek and Latin (1604) (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 488 f° 62-63).
