Lettre du 29 janvier 1731 (d’Aix): Abstract: He refers to the case of Muscat wine dispatched through agents, wine which he says is selected as beverage for the King. He refers to his long past dispatch of a packet of books and engravings of the medals of M. le President. He wishes O. would communicate more often giving news of literary productions in Holland and his own studies, with reference to the progress of his Catullus and his Sicilian journey. He sends herewith some Greek inscriptions brought from Smyrna and asks for the opinion of the experts and especially the explanation of one of them. Mons. le President has besides had very exact engravings made of the bas-reliefs and the inscriptions. Among Cottelier’s MSS. which M. possesses is a treatise of sacred observations full of erudition, in Greek and Hebrew and containing textual restoration of passages in an author ecclesiastical with the addition of a prefatory life of Cottelier. He asks O. to apply to Wetstein to undertake the printing, on account of his high reputation and as a means of getting into correspondence with him.
