'Signed by ‘Robert Bruceus Cotton 1603’ on the title page. ... The list of emperors at the beginning of the book has been annotated with a series of ink dots, presumably by Cotton. The marks do not, however, correspond with those coins which Cotton was to acquire; but they seem to show him checking through it.
