-Lettre du 19 juillet 1700 (de Paris) : « Priusquam Lutetia discederem Baylio fasciculum miseram exemplariorum Vindiciarum pro quatuor Gordianorum historia quas doctissimi Cuyperi [sic] adversariis opposui : inter illa unum erat quod tibi debetatur et quod ad te in tempore transmissum opinor » (Copenhague, Kongelige Bibliotek, Fonds Thott, 4°, 1260 ; Lombard 1913, p. 49, Lettre 113).

Remarques de Guy Meyer : Le calamiteux Histoire des quatre Gordiens prouvée par les médailles de Du Bos, parut en 1695. Il s'attira deux répliques cinglantes, l'une de Galland, Lettre touchant à l'histoire des quatre Gordiens prouvée par les médailles, Paris, 1696 et l'autre de Gisbert Cuper, Historia trium Gordianum, Deventer, 1697. Cette polémique commune fut à l'origine de l'amitié qui liait Galland et Cuper. Il est possible qu'il existe un autre exemplaire de cette lettre à Utrecht dans les archives Graevius. (fr)
