-Lettre du 12 décembre 1730 (de Salonique) : « Il ne se trouve presque plus ici de médailles qui méritent d'être recherchées. S’il s’en présente qui ne soient pas tout à fait communes, le P. Tarillon les prend pour un marchand de Smirne, nommé Guérin, qui se pique d'antiquailles et qui étoit, il y a cinq ans, à Paris, où il obtint, dit-on, alors quelque pension ou gratification de la Cour ou des ministres, en qualité d'antiquaire. Si cependant il me tomboit entre les mains quelque médaille qui nous parût curieuse, je la prendrois pour vous » (Bibl. Des Pères Jéusites, Levant, 5 ; Omont 1902, p. 736).
