Lettre du 17 mai 1779 (de Paris) : « Ces pièces sont si mal disposées que celle où je couche n’a pas même d’antichambre et donne directement sur l’escalier ; que, bien que tout le logement soit obscur, humide, froid, sujet à la fumée, et privé des commodités les plus nécessaires, je ne m’en étais pas plaint pendant que j’étais plus jeune et que je jouissais d’une meilleure santé ; qu’accablé aujourd’hui de vapeurs et de rhumatismes, je ne pourrais y rester plus longtemps sans m’exposer aux infirmités les plus cruelles » (Paris, Arch.
