Lettre du 13 juin 1758 (de Paris) : à propos d’un manuscrit de Revest qui emprunte la tournure du dialogue : « Cet académicien et ce jeune curieux qui reviennent à tout moment jetent du froid dans le discours, prolongent les narrations et finissent commodément par des chutes qui ne sont point heureuses. Il vous faudrait fort peu de temps pour changer cette disposition et l’ouvrage en vaudrait infiniment mieux » (Paris, BnF, Ms. N. acq. fr. 11820, f° 186 ; Sarmant 2003, p. 251, note 59).
