Lettre du 29 novembre 1736 (de Dijon): Abstract: He refers to various works, e.g., possible reprinting of the dissertation on the dissolution of marriages in face of possible objections; no doubt my conjectures on Petronius and Pervigilium Veneris will have gone into the Bibliothique Raisonne in which I was surprised to find some observations of mine on a singular medal of Vaballathus. He presumes that O. will by now have received the last edition of my Cat line orations; and you will soon get the five Tusculana, with a treatise on Sardanapolus apropos of the inscription on his tomb mentioned by Cicero. He despairs of seeing the late Brenkman’s work on the Pandects. He failed to find in O’s. parcel his book attacking Pauw’s Aristaenetus. I do not think much of Maffei’s Italian translation of the Iliad; he should keep to, antiquities which are his metier; is M. persevering with his collection of inscriptions?
