-Lettre du 13 décembre 1729 (de Smyrne) : « J'ay l'honneur d'adresser, par cette même commodité, à Mgr le comte de Maurepas quelques médailles, qui ont été frapées au coin de quelques vIlles, qui me semblent n'avoir encore paru sur aucune monnoye; je souhaite d’en trouver de mieux conservées pour réparer un peu le défaut, que l'endroit mal disposé où elles étoient enfouies si longtemps leur a causé. Je puis aussi envoie des animaux terrestres et volants pour la ménagerie du Roy; si on étoit bien aise d'en avoir, il faudroit seulement sçavoir si ce sera à M. l'intendant de Marseille, à qui il faudra les adresser, ou à tout autre » (Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, Ms. nouv. acq. franc. 5384, f° 272-273; Omont 1902, p. 714).
