-Lettre du 1 mai 1762 (de Rome) : « Jetzt arbeite ich an einer Erklärung schwerer Punkte in der Mythologie und in den Alterthümern in welscher Sprache, die ich meinem Herrn nach und nach vorlese. Es werden in derselben an 50 Kupfer angebracht werden. Der Druck (exclus. der Kupfer) geschieht auf des Herrn Cardinals Kosten. Ein anderes Merk in lateinischer Sprache: Erklärung nie bekannt gemachter Griechischer Münzen, wächst auch nach und nach, und nach England werde ich bald eine Abhandlung von dem Stil der Bildhauerei vor den Zeiten des Phidias, ebenfalls in Latein, zum Drucke abschicken » (Förster 1824, p. 114, lettre n° 209).
