'This trip, on which he accompanied his friend Prince Dmitry Mikhailovich Gallitzin (1721–1793), the Russian ambassador to Austria, is mentioned in a letter by Eckhel to Pieter van Damme (1727–1806), written on 2 August 1780' (B.
