Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
Lettre du 28 février 1737 (de Paris): He explains that his delay in enquiring for the codices of Apuleius in the Royal library and the copy of the Anthology said to be in Dr. de Bozi’s keeping was due chiefly to his unanimous co-option as member of the Society of the Royal Academy of Inscriptions and literae humaniones (an unparallelled honour for such a novice). Also he had spoken on the Egyptian coins of the eighth year of Augustus, and had been instructed to follow with another talk in which to reply to queries and difficulties raised. As the talks will probably be too bulky to be embodied in the Acta of the Society I shall try to get them published myself. ... (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 497 f° 254-255).
