-Lettre du 9 avril 1739 (d’Arezzo): “Per ora mi diverto a fare una lettera istorica sopra la conditione antica di Arezzo, fino che memorie vi sono, cioè a dire fino alla deduzione di essa in Colonia da Vespasiano, perché molte notitie sono sfuggite al Sig.r Bali, in quella diretta a V.S.a. La prego pertanto a veder nel Vaillant de Coloniis se vi sia cosa alcuna attenente ad Arezzo, e se una sigla che porta il Nicolaus de [c. 92 r] siglis veterum COLAR. FLAV. che egli interpreta Colonia Ara Flavia giacché Vespasiano di tal famiglia così la dedusse, e altre da lui dedotte sono ne marmi dette.” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII, 15, f° 91r-92v – online).
