Lettre du 23 juillet 1739 (de Modène): "Mi ha sorpreso la disgrazia accaduta a V. S. illustrissima per le sue monete, e compiango la perdita che ne ha fatto, e massimamente, perché se non è un miracolo, il furbo che ha saputo fare sì maledetta burla, saprà anche nascondere sé stesso e il furto. Contuttociò potrebbe la mano di Dio coglierlo, quando meno sel pensa. Ho notificato il caso a questo Bargello, per tutto quello che possa avvenire; e, se mai costui capitasse in queste parti, gli sarebbe fatta buona giustizia..." (Campori 1905 vol.
