-Lettre du 25 mai 1685 (de Venise) : « M. Patin est le plus habile homme de Padoue. Son cabinet de médailles est très riche. Il a fait depuis peu un livre qu'il a dédié au R. P. de La Chaise : c'est sur des inscriptions grecques qu'il a trouvées. Il nous en a fait présent ('). Madame Patin nous a aussi donné un livre de piété de sa façon (2). Il a deux filles savantes en latin, en vers et en prose, agrégées à l'Académie des Ricovrati, aussi bien que Mademoiselle de Scudéry » (Valéry 1846, lettre XXXII, p. 60-64).
