Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
'I had a large number of Jewish medals engraved which are improperly called Samaritan because the characters are the same as those used by the Samaritans. I arranged them on different plates according to the date of striking. I used the same system for all of the Herodian coins that I could find in various collections in Europe. Some of the plates, for example those with shekels and half-shekels, will be included in the notes of the harmony, because the didrachma and the stater [are mentioned] in Matthew 17:24-27. I will send you sample pieces if you wish.' (English translation from Minc 1985, pp. 112-13)
