Lettre du 1er septembre 1685 (de Bologne): "Secondariamente mi ha mostrato (Giuseppe Magnavacca, ndr) due getti che superano in certa maniera l'istessa arteficia: vedonsi questi di medavigliosa purità coperti di patina verde così bella, benché fittizia, che la naturale non è migliore, si scoprono sotto la patina alcuni granelletti che sembrano veri subbullimenti di metallo, benché levando la patina sien poi graniture, il giro è perfettissimo e benché in così bel maneggio ci avessi parte anche il caso nel gettarne una pigliò vento e venne a far nel giro una piccola mancanza di metallo che si crederebbe vera corrosione d'antichità" (Firenze, Archivio di Stato, MP, 3951; Fileti Mazza 1996, p. 362).
