Lettre du 27 octobre 1687 (de Paris), as for the royal numismatic collection: "È veramente copioso nelle due serie grande e mezzana che ho veduto sin'ora, niente però maggiore della fama, e ne pure universale come alcuni lo volevano (intendendo nelle medaglie romane che nelle greche è impossibile farlo universale), perché se vi sono tutte o quasi tutte le teste, non vi sono tutti i rovesci, gl'apportano però un gran lustro le quattro teste di Germanico, Britannico, Otone e Pescennio in grande, delle quali non so se siano altrove tutte quattro insieme, che congiuntamente con una gran quantità di greche, fanno in verità qualche cosa d'inarrivabile" (Firenze, Archivio di Stato, MP, 4826; Fileti Mazza 1996, p. 371, note 43).
