Lettre du 8 mai 1688 (de Venise): "In risposta dell'ultima sua del primo stante, devo dirle che ben s'imaginò Vostra Signoria Illustrissima che io fussi per trovare del buono e del raro nelli studi privati di questi signori, come quelli che hanno tutto giorno commercio con le provincie di Levante e che anco volentieri si mescolano in baratti con tutti i dilettanti d'Italia, unico mezzo di nobilitare i musei con poca spesa" (Firenze, Archivio di Stato, MP, 1577; Fileti Mazza 1996, p. 372, note 50).
