The list is headed ‘all silver Roman pieces’, and then includes (by type) Vitellius (4), Vespasian and Titus (27), Domitian (20), Nerva (7) and Trajan (13). Quantities had been added to the left of each entry, but they cannot be seen for the left-hand column, since the binding is too tight; there was, however, a total of 43 coins for Domitian. Combined with his letter it shows that Brearcliffe must have got hold of a very large second-century hoard of Roman denarii. The piece of paper includes two more group of coins. The first is ‘Silver pieces more’: 17 assorted coins from Antony LEG XV to Honorius.
