Thus much of his letter is to this purpose: As some labourers were at work ditching upon Well walk, about half a quarter of a mile from the house, they found, in an earthen pott, about a foot deep, between six and seven hundred such peices of coin as these I herewith send you, which are all I could pick up, and near that, another pot with coins in it, which they took to be silver, but they all mildred to powder when they touched them. ...
