Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
'I endeavourd all I could to purchase Dr Pikerus his medals; but his Br was Deaf to all my Entreaties & They are gone wth Him to Xendom. I am sorry mine of Jan. 19 miscarryd, wch was to Advise you yt the watchmaker insisted on 400 $ for his medals, & refused to send ym by Mr Kemble’s Bark, tho’ I offerd Him any Security for their return, or his Demand if you approvd of them. Dr Pikerus examined them twice, & Assurd me they were not worth wt I offerd, neither did They correspond wth his Catalogue, so I hope to supply you better; & Godwilling, by the first Caravan, or other good Conveyance to Smirna I will send you 3 hundred & 31 brass medals wch I beg your favourable Acceptance of, & will receive no other return yn wt you please to Contribute toward my Garden; & wt will be infinitely more valuable yn All the medals I can possibly Collect for you in Aleppo.
